Financial Investigation TIG Update - 14.12.21

On the 2nd December 2021, the Financial Investigations TIG hosted its last meeting of the year. This online event was focused on the topic of Virtual Currencies. 

A presentation was made on "Analysis of cryptocurrency and new developments in practice" by Mr Henry Siero (FIOD, NL). Mr Siero talked about the ever-changing world of cryptocurrencies, NFTs and the obstacles faced by the financial investigators. 

This meeting was also an opportunity to sum up the year and discuss the ideas for the future. The plan for the year 2022 will be presented in mid-January. On 9th December 2021, the Digital Forensic subgroup met and a decision was made that the group will shift its interest towards cryptocurrencies. 

In the next meeting on 27th January 2022, the group members will present the approaches to crypto investigations in their countries and they will share best practices.
