Operational Centres TIG Meeting in London

31.10.2023

From the 11th to the 12th of October 2023, the OC TIG members met in London for an F2F Meeting.

The group discussed the future of the Operational Centres TIG and ongoing activities. TIG members summarised strategic documents such as the Document on Challenges in Training & Education. This publication is a catalyst for further discussion and aids the development of joint ENLETS/EU policy and operational delivery. It also supports the implementation of new innovative technologies and capabilities required to set a baseline and assess the current potential in technologies and human factors across the ENLETS member’s OCs.

Later on, OC TIG stakeholders talked about the Operational Exchange of Information, the adaptation and adjustment of the work to the new European directive about information exchange, and Single Point of Contact (SPOC). They discussed how it should work and how people should be trained. They also addressed the case management system, RESTAPIs (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interfaces) and its role in exchanging information from the PSAP used to the PSAP of the neighbouring country, with a minimum of manipulations by the operators.

During the event, DCC Nav Malik – the national lead for the Police National Computer (PNC) – presented the Law Enforcement Data Service (LEDS), the work on the replacement process of the PNC within the United Kingdom. Later, Tony Day, a guest from CENTRIC, conducted the workshop on Alerting and Engaging Citizens in Crisis Response via New and Open Communications Channels whilst Mitigating Information Overload. You can expect the Discussion Paper from the CENTRIC Workshop shortly.

The meeting was also an opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Police Marine Police Unit and Metropolitan Police Operation Centre and its Special Operations Room. The participants were familiarised with the everyday tasks and challenges of people working there.

We want to thank our host, National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), for organising such a fruitful event.

From ENLETS Contact to Joint Training: Polish and Slovak Counter-Terrorism Units at Lešť

Counter-terrorism officers from the Mazovia region (Poland) took part in a joint operational training in Slovakia. The officers were invited by the Special Police Unit PPÚ Bratislava and trained together at the Lešť Training Centre in Slovakia from 23 to 27 February 2026, enhancing cross-border cooperation and operational readiness. This initiative directly resulted from ENLETS collaboration, demonstrating how international partnerships can be translated into practical actions.
