Plans & Priorities: Public Order TIG – ENLETS 3.0

ENLETS 3.0 encourages closer coordination between the Technology Interest Groups so that operational experience and technological developments can be shared more effectively. The Public Order Technology Interest Group (PO TIG) contributes to this work by focusing on the practical challenges linked to public order operations, particularly during large events and situations that develop quickly in busy public spaces.

Building on this, the group brings together practitioners from across Europe to compare operational approaches, identify shared challenges and highlight solutions that can strengthen the protection of public spaces. Its work points to methods and tools that support officers during large events and rapidly developing incidents.

One of the group’s ongoing priorities is expanding its collection of good practices and case studies. This resource captures practical examples from across Europe and will be made available via EU-LISA, providing an accessible reference for practitioners looking to improve planning and operational readiness.

The TIG is also examining technologies with clear operational relevance. Work continues on assessing the value of UAVs and C-UAS, observation systems and tools that can enhance coordination in fast-moving environments. Particular attention is given to solutions that strengthen communication between officers and command structures, helping ensure that information flows quickly and reliably during demanding situations.

Regular engagement with practitioners remains central to the group’s work. An in-person meeting is planned to refine priorities and gather insights directly from the field. The TIG also intends to visit the POLSECURE fair in Kielce, Poland, to explore new technologies offered by suppliers and developers. A wider ENLETS meeting in Valencia, Spain, is being considered to present concrete progress from across the network.

Together, these activities help build a clearer picture of public-order capabilities across Europe and promote access to practical solutions that support officers in their daily duties. Combined, they also help advance a more coordinated approach to public-order management across the EU.
