ENLETS Prepares for EU Presidency Collaboration with Poland in 2025

As Poland prepares to assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2025, ENLETS is gearing up to play a pivotal role in supporting key activities during this significant period. Among these activities, a National Contact Point meeting is scheduled for the spring, highlighting the close collaboration between ENLETS and the Polish Presidency.

Productive Planning Meeting in Poznań

Last week, ENLETS held a strategic meeting in Poznań, Poland, involving the Core Group Leader, the Support Team from the National Police of the Netherlands, Technology Interest Group (TIG) leads, and the Secretariat. This meeting marked the beginning of a series of actions on Polish soil over the next six months, laying the groundwork for the activities planned during the Presidency.

The discussions in Poznań provided an excellent opportunity to cement plans for 2025. These plans aim to align ENLETS’ activities with the priorities of the European Commission (EC) and the ENLETS member states. The festive backdrop of Poznań’s Christmas market added a touch of holiday cheer, fostering a productive atmosphere for the two-day event.

Key Focus Areas for ENLETS 3.0

Under the ENLETS 3.0, the community is intensifying its efforts to enhance collaboration across its five TIGs. The primary objectives include addressing current challenges and offering actionable solutions to harmonize law enforcement practices in several critical areas:

  • Frontline Policing & Public Protection: Supporting initiatives such as the #FitFor55 package under the #GreenDeal to ensure sustainable and effective law enforcement.
  • Critical Communications: Enhancing strategies for the #GoldenHour response following crises.
  • Protection from Unmanned Aircraft Systems: Strengthening measures to safeguard Europe from emerging threats.
  • Digital Integration: Ensuring seamless integration of key initiatives into the digital workspaces of law enforcement officers.

Strengthening European Cooperation

Looking ahead to 2025, ENLETS is committed to fostering innovation and improving the capacity and capabilities of Europe’s security community. This includes collaboration with various Law Enforcement Networks Working Group members, such as RAILPOL, AIRPOL, AQUAPOL, ATLAS, EIFS, ESG, and HRSN, as well as other networks across Europe.

A Strong Start for 2025

The meeting in Poznań has set the stage for a productive year ahead, ensuring ENLETS is well-prepared to respond to the challenges and priorities of the upcoming Polish Presidency. With the support of its extensive community and partners, ENLETS aims to drive meaningful progress in law enforcement and public safety throughout Europe.
